Our Properties

Since our launch, OP has transformed 17 vacant, unwanted city properties from trash-covered dumping grounds to beautiful community gathering spaces. The lots we maintain serve as living laboratories and demonstrate the viability of permaculture methods.

1st Food Forest!

Omaha Permaculture planted the 1st food forest in Omaha, Nebraska. Located at 3362 Patrick Avenue in North Omaha. In 2-3 years it will be in full food production at a perennial basis. A huge thank you to all the volunteers and sponsor Johnson Controls for helping this goal become a reality.

Biorention Garden

A Bioretention Garden that is the first horticultural enhancement project of its type anywhere along the wide and 5 ½ mile-long thoroughfare of Sorenson Parkway.

Each year we host hundreds of independent volunteers who clean, garden, and learn building skills on our lots. We also identify “community champions” for each of our lots and create succession plans so that ultimately each site, once sustainable, can be given over to surrounding neighborhood residents to maintain and evolve.
